
With the exception of the sterling Toy Story sequels, Pixar's first forays into franchises (Cars 2 and Monsters University) definitely haven't earned the same accolades that Pixar's other classic pictures have. And when you're hanging your entire movie on a character who thrived in a supporting role, I'm pretty skeptical about Finding Dory. What made Dory so delightful in Finding Nemo was the fact that she always had the anxious Marlin beside her to play straight man, and the chemistry and dialogue was fantastic. But if Dory's the star of the show, and showing off her giggle-inducing-short-term-memory-loss without a sharper-minded character to ground her, I worry that Finding Dory will quickly lose its way.
